Reiki for Cancer Patients & Survivors
Compassionate, evidence-informed complementary care
for people living with, or beyond, cancer.
A Cancer Diagnosis changes far more than just the body.
It changes how we feel, how we see ourselves, and how we experience and move through the world.
Whether you are newly diagnosed, undergoing treatment, recovering from surgery, adjusting to life after cancer, or living with the uncertainty of survivorship, these sessions offer a calm and compassionate space to simply rest, breathe, and receive support.
My role is not to treat cancer.
My role is to support the whole person who is living through it.
Why this work matters to me
When I was twelve years old, I was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Since then, my life has included multiple brain tumours, thyroid cancer, surgeries, radiation therapy, seizures, neurological challenges, countless MRI scans, and the uncertainty that so many people living with cancer know all too intimately.
Like many people facing cancer, I experienced not only the physical effects of treatment, but also the emotional weight of fear, isolation, and wondering what life would look like beyond my diagnosis.
During that journey, I discovered yoga, meditation, Reiki, and other supportive healing practices that helped me find moments of peace, resilience, and hope alongside the medical care I was recieving.
Today, I offer these same complementary practices to others because I know that healing involves far more than the physical body.
Every person's journey through cancer is unique. The Windtalkter Cancer Wellness Program is designed to meet you where you are, offering personalized complementary care that supports your wellbeing throughout each stage of the journey.

I Have Sat On Both Sides
Of The Treatment Table.
I know what it's like to wait for MRI results.
I know the fear before surgery.
I know radiation fatigue.
I know what it's like when people begin treating you differently.
I know what it feels like wondering if life will ever feel normal again.
I also know that moments of peace are possible.
I know that healing isn't always about removing disease.
Sometimes healing is about remembering that you are still whole.
My Philosophy
Healing is not always curing.
Healing is remembering that you are more than a diagnosis.
Healing is allowing the nervous system to rest.
Healing is reconnecting with your body.
Healing is finding meaning, dignity, hope, and peace, even in difficult seasons of life.
Healing is allowing yourself to be cared for
Evidence-informed care
Research into Reiki as a complementary therapy suggests it may support relaxation, quality of life, anxiety, pain, and cancer-related fatigue for some individuals. While Reiki is not a treatment for cancer and should never replace medical care, many people (myself included) find it to be a valuable part of their overall wellbeing during treatment and survivorship.
Session Information
Sessions are approximately 50 minutes in length and are offered Fridays through Mondays in a calm, dedicated treatment room within my home practice in Esquimalt. Home visits may also be arranged for those who are unable to travel comfortably.
Each session is thoughtfully adapted to your individual needs and where you are on your cancer journey. The session fee is $100 CAD, payable in cash at the time of your appointment.
Working alongside your healthcare team
These sessions are intended to complement, not replace, medical treatment.
I fully support conventional oncology and encourage every client to continue following the advice of their physicians and healthcare team.
Reiki is offered as supportive care with the intention of helping reduce stress, encourage relaxation, and support overall wellbeing throughout the cancer journey.
Frequently Asked Questions, Answered:
-
Yes. Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive complementary practice that many people choose to receive during chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or other cancer treatments. Sessions are always adapted to your comfort level and are intended to support relaxation and overall wellbeing alongside the care provided by your medical team.
-
In most cases, yes. Reiki does not involve physical manipulation of the body, and clients remain fully clothed throughout the session. Following surgery, care is taken to ensure your comfort, and no pressure is applied to healing areas. If you have recently undergone surgery or have any concerns, I encourage you to discuss complementary therapies with your healthcare team.
-
No. Reiki is offered as a complementary practice and is never intended to replace medical treatment. It does not interfere with chemotherapy, radiation, medications, or other conventional treatments. My role is to support your wellbeing while you continue receiving care from your healthcare providers.
-
Every session begins with a brief conversation about how you're feeling and what you'd like support with that day.
Depending on your needs and comfort level, your session may include Reiki, gentle breathwork, guided relaxation, therapeutic movement, mobility support, or simply a quiet space to rest. You remain fully clothed throughout the session, and every aspect of your care is adapted to your individual circumstances.
-
No. Many people who book a session are simply looking for a peaceful space to relax and receive support during a difficult time. You don't need any particular spiritual or religious beliefs to benefit from a calming, compassionate environment.
-
Many people find that Reiki sessions help them feel calmer, more grounded, and better able to cope with the emotional stress that often accompanies medical appointments, treatments, and waiting for results. While Reiki cannot change medical outcomes, it may help create a greater sense of peace during periods of uncertainty.
-
Absolutely.
For many people, survivorship brings its own challenges—adjusting to life after treatment, rebuilding confidence, managing fatigue, processing fear of recurrence, or simply learning to trust the body again. These sessions are designed to support people throughout every stage of the cancer journey, including survivorship.
-
Yes.
Caring for someone with cancer can be physically and emotionally exhausting. Caregivers often spend so much time looking after others that they forget to care for themselves. These sessions provide an opportunity to rest, recharge, and receive the same compassionate support they so generously give to others.
-
Never.
I believe complementary care works best alongside conventional medicine. I encourage every client to continue working closely with their healthcare team, and I do not recommend stopping or replacing prescribed medical treatments with Reiki or any other complementary practice.
-
Because this journey is one I know personally.
As a cancer survivor who has undergone multiple brain surgeries, radiation therapy, thyroid cancer treatment, and years of ongoing medical follow-up, I understand many of the physical and emotional challenges that accompany a cancer diagnosis. My intention is to offer the kind of compassionate presence and supportive care that I would have appreciated during my own journey.
-
My goal is simple:
To provide a safe, supportive space where you can rest, breathe, and reconnect with yourself beyond your diagnosis.
Whether you are newly diagnosed, undergoing treatment, recovering, or living with the long-term effects of cancer, my hope is that you leave each session feeling a little calmer, a little lighter, and reminded that you are more than your illness.
You Are More Than Your Diagnosis
A cancer diagnosis changes many things.
It does not diminish your worth.
Whether you are beginning treatment, recovering after surgery, adjusting to life after cancer, or simply longing for a place where you can rest, you deserve compassionate care that honours your whole being.
You do not have to walk this journey alone.
Wherever you are on your journey, you deserve a place where you can simply be a person, not just a patient.
My promise to you
I promise to meet you with kindness, without judgment, and without expectation.
I will honour wherever you are on your journey.
I will always remember that you are more than your diagnosis.
Whether you come seeking rest, comfort, peace, or simply someone who understands, know that you will be welcomed exactly as you are.
